Reynolds Bags Freedom – Bag Surgery

-Mixed plastic/resin fill

The unique aspects of this bag is the fabric, fill, and closing seam.
This bag is a newer style Reynolds bag, a high-speed, thin-walled, raging blitz of board slide action. This bag requires virtually zero break-in, as the fabrics are already super thin and flexible out of the gate. This extreme flex felt like a disadvantage but is compensated by it’s ability to sneak through the tiniest of hole openings.

The fill is recycled media with smooth cuts and edges. This fill is very loose and hard to hold on to, but has a great flex and flow thanks to the smooth surface and nature of the plastic itself. This bag feels full and yet, with the beads able to move so freely, the grip may change during the throw. This bag is pretty odd in general but you get it near the hole and it will most likely get on in there.

The fabrics are high speed on both sides, we rate this bag a 7 on the slow side (slower on slow boards of course), and a 9 on the fast side. Both sides have a supreme flexibility thanks to being thin… the bag is even see-through!!The fast side is nice and smooth, while the slower side has some slight texture as they used the reverse side of the fabric. We made a test bag that used both sides of this fabric and it actually plays great on slow boards!

The main stitching is a double seam with roughly 1/8″ in gap between the two. The template isn’t a perfect square, it seems the sides were sewn to bulge slightly. When the bag is flipped and filled, it takes the shape of a nice plump bag. The corners are rounded. The closing seam is also a Reynolds classic, the double bartack straight stitch with a zig-zag running over the top. This smaller width stitch will stay tight throughout the life of the bag. The thread throughout the bag is a strong thread that should never fail.

This bag seems like Reynolds’ attempt to branch into fast/faster bags and I’m glad to see they used fabrics that aren’t used on any other bags. It’s a risky move, but with a name like Reynolds it carries a reputation of quality. Personally I’m glad they are expanding their lineup more and more. This bag is no longer on their website, and I imagine it might not have sold well and wasn’t worth a re-up on fabric and ACL status for this one.

Andy at B3 Cornhole highly recommends Reynolds bags!!! The price is very reasonable and they ship fast. Reynolds has great consistency and an ACL stamp to boot.
It appears this bag is no longer in their lineup.
